The Reading Symphony Junior Strings (RSJSO) is a string orchestra for advanced fourth through eighth grade students, who have completed a minimum of two years of private lessons. The orchestra is designed to be a learning orchestra for ensemble work, as well as more advanced individual skills and preparation for the Youth Orchestra (grades 9-12). The RSJSO performs both educational arrangements and appropriate standard repertoire. The 2017-2018 season will be the nineteenth season for the RSJSO, the eighth under the musical direction of Brian Mishler. Each season the orchestra has a minimum of four performances, demonstrating a repertoire that includes a wide variety of styles and difficulty. Rehearsals are typically Saturday mornings from 9:00-11:00 am, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shillington, PA.
