RSYO Auditions

Audition Date: Saturday, August 29, 2026 beginning at 9am. Reformation Lutheran Church: 3670 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, PA 19606

All instruments are welcome to audition.

Information for the 2026-2027 season (about the group and tentative concert dates)

Audition Checklist

Fill out the online Google form stating your intent to audition (Deadline August 8, 2026)

  1. Fill out and sign the Signature Page
  2. Write a check to “Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra” for $20 for the audition fee.
  3. Mail the Signature Page and check to the RSO Office.

    1. PMEA 2026-2027 District 10 solo where applicable, or a solo of one’s choosing that fully demonstrates your finest playing.

      Please note: District 10 band is now using excerpts for their auditions. Wind and brass players should still prepare a solo (concerto, sonata, etc.) for their RSYO audition. All students should bring a photocopy of their solo for each of the two judges.       
    2. An assigned excerpt/equalizer. Percussionists do not have an equalizer to learn.

      9. French Horn
      10. Trumpet
      11. Trombone
      12. Tuba
    3. Scales – At judges discretion. Please prepare the District 10 scale requirements as indicated in the link above.
